Our Story

Luke 22:32
But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

HEART OF COMMUNITY

Founder LaTasha R. Ward, President of The Solid Foundation Inc., is excited to announce a new wave of re-entry services and family support to youth of Prince George’s county. As a 21st century community activist and philanthropist, Ms. Ward pioneers the way by providing a collective resource and service base that support families who are experiencing economic and social hardship and/or physical instability, as a result of parent-guardian incarceration. We have over 500 returning citizens to return to Prince George’s County every year but we lack mentorship, employment and housing.

In March of 2020 in our county we faced having over 960 inmates in our local jails system when Covid-19 hit our area hard. Social distancing was a major concern an advocates pushed for release of many inmate but once again our county lacked proper resources to keep those that returned home productive.

Statistics show a child with an incarcerated parent faces significant life changes. The best scenario in this difficult situation, is continuing to live at home with only one parent to care for them. The reality for some children can be more overwhelming as they may end up with different living arrangements.

A child who has an incarcerated parent may feel very emotional. In turn, many don’t know how to cope with the situation. However, children with a support network can turn anger, shame, lack of confidence, and grief into resilience and hope for the future.

To cope with the life changes, many children with incarcerated parents will want to do what they feel is right. Owning how they deal with change feels empowering to them.

Children with a support network to turn to can change anger, shame, lack of confidence and grief into resilience and hope for the future.

LaTasha R. Ward’s mission reaches the heart of the community with the love of Jesus Christ by enriching a families’ total well being and meeting their complex needs. Specialized areas of service and focus include, but are not limited to one on one counseling, group counseling, workforce development, transitional housing, education, mentorship, life coaching, health care and much more.

LaTasha R. Ward pioneers the way for generations to come and has worked to unite the community with the launch of two major projects this 2020 year OASIS Teach a Man to fish and STAR-Rise.
